Halloween Treats: Gingerbread ghosts, bats and pumpkins!


Halloween Gingerbread Men 


Hello Everyone,

As halloween is fast approaching, I thought it would be nice to make some delicious homemade halloween gingerbread. These treats are perfect to make with children or to use for trick or treat comers. I got most of my ingredients from Waitrose, including the exciting halloween cookie cutter in the shape of a ghost, bat and pumpkin. 

Here are the steps I followed for making the perfect halloween gingerbread:





Ingredients: 350g plain flour,1 tsp bicarbonate of soda2 tsp ground ginger1 tsp ground cinnamon125g butter175g light soft brown sugaregg4 tbsp golden syrup & icing.



Step 1: Sift all the dry ingredients into one bowl and mix together



Step 2: Add the butter and rub together using finger tips to create breadcrumbs

Step 3: Stir in the brown sugar

Step 4: Whisk the egg and golden syrup together in a bowl and then add to the breadcrumb mixture

Step 5: Using your hands mix everything together so it forms a dough and then knead the dough lightly on a floured surface until smooth

Step 6: Wrap the dough in clingfilm and place it in the fridge to cool for 15 minutes

Step 7: Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and line two baking trays with greaseproof paper


Step 8: Roll the dough to 0.5 cm on a floured surface and cut using the halloween cutters. Put on the baking tray leaving a gap between each one. Put in the oven for around 12 minutes (or until golden brown - they harden once they cool down). 


Step 9: When the gingerbread has cooled... DECORATE with icing.
